Go Here vs Google Maps lists
Compare · Updated November 3, 2026
The short answer
Google Maps lists are the easy default: save a place in the app you already navigate with, add a note, share the list by link or invite editors. Go Here is built for handing someone a city: privacy is set per spot rather than per list, the view and invite links are separate and replaceable, it reads places out of videos, posts and pasted lists, and it needs no account.
Where Google Maps is the better fit
- It is already on almost every phone, Android included, and on the web.
- Directions, opening hours, photos and reviews are on every saved place.
- A list is private or shared by link, to view or to edit, and whoever opens the link can save it.
Where Go Here is
- Hide any single spot and it stays off every link you share. In Google Maps, sharing is set for the whole list.
- A view link and an invite link are separate, and either can be replaced if it goes too far.
- Places come in from a YouTube video, a TikTok or Instagram post, a screenshot or a pasted list, read out for you to tick.
- Each spot has a rating out of 10, been or to go, and pictures, and the map filters to Food, Shop, Drink or See.
- No account: a city is yours by a private link on your device.
Using both
Many people keep saving in Google Maps and build the city they hand out in Go Here. Paste the names under Import to bring a list across, and Directions on any Go Here spot opens it in Apple Maps.
Questions
Is Go Here better than Google Maps for sharing restaurant lists?
For handing someone a city, often yes: you can hide single spots, the person needs no account, and each place carries your note and rating. For saving as you navigate, Google Maps is handier, since it is already on your phone.
Can I move my Google Maps list into Go Here?
Copy the place names out of the list and paste them under Import, then List. Each is found on the map for you to check before it is added.
Can I hide one place in a shared Google Maps list?
Google Maps sets sharing for a whole list. In Go Here each spot has Hide, which keeps it off the shared link while it stays on your map.
